I came up with this name in a way which was unquestionably a gift from The Lord. One day I asked Him to provide me with a name or word to use when speaking his message through hip-hop. Upon this request in prayer, I came across the term A.D. and decided to complete my own research even though I thought I already knew the answer. Come to find out, I was wrong all along. This is a perfect example of why you should not always count on someone’s word being 100% accurate when it comes to scripture. Challenge them! Complete your own Biblical research.
When I discovered what A.D. really meant, I was in complete awe of The Lord in that moment. Dominique, my government name, means “of The Lord.” With Anno Domini meaning “the year of The Lord,” I decided to stick with it.
I love it when The Lord does that!
My purpose is not to use my music as an outlet to talk about myself, but I do want to give you a snippet of what The Lord has done in my life.
I was raised in the Baptist church and baptized around the age of seven. I don’t remember this being my decision because I didn’t really know The Lord as a kid. I only knew a little about him. I knew Jesus loved the little children, he died a horrible death, I prayed to Him before sleep, and I prayed to Him when I needed help. My entire life until around the age of 26 I grew up thinking I was saved and I wasn’t. Read the Book, because people will tell you anything!
I had an encounter with The Lord that led me to fear Him for the first time in my life. Believe me, understanding the fear of The Lord without salvation is a humbling and terrifying thing.
I was saved a couple years after the event, and The Lord showed me in the Psalms that the beginning of wisdom is the fear of The Lord. I believe that before He saved me He wanted me to understand what this meant so that I may have a healthy respect for Him. Most Christians just respect The Lord which is actually unhealthy for the spirit.
After I asked The Lord for a special person to enter my life and teach me, He sent my best friend, mentor, brother, pastor… all of the above, Tim, and the rest is history. Tim taught me true discipleship that I continue to pass on and duplicate to the best of my human ability.
I have been signed to this label because of The Lord’s grace, and I pray and hope to represent the gospel to many people, some who may only hear the message of Jesus in this form.
My favorite scripture was written by Paul. It is found in 1 Corinthians 9:19-23.
“For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them.
To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law.
To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law.
To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some.
I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.”
To The Lord be the glory! I’m just a vapor – here today and gone tomorrow. God bless you.
